The Ukrainian capital is demonstrating its tourism potential to Chinese tour operators to attract more tourists from China, the official Ukrinform news agency said Wednesday.
Representatives of the Kiev City Administration and 35 Ukrainian travel agencies held a tourism workshop for 20 Chinese tour operators to introduce unique routes and sightseeing attractions in Kiev that could be particularly interesting for Chinese visitors.
Anton Taranenko, head of the tourism department at the city administration, said Kiev is ready to offer Chinese tourists a variety of cultural and historical tours.
“Chinese people are particularly interested in our monumental buildings and temple architecture. They do not perceive the churches as religious objects, but first and foremost, as places that can display the culture and the life of Ukrainians,” Taranenko said.
Gastronomy tourism could be another interesting experience for Chinese travelers in Kiev, he added.
Taranenko said he hopes that cooperation between Ukrainian travel agencies and Chinese tour operators will attract about 24,000 Chinese tourists to Kiev this year.
The number of overseas tourists visiting Kiev in 2017 increased by 25 percent annually to 1.6 million visitors.
